USC Hosts the ESRDC Annual Meeting
USC hosted the Electric Ship Research and Development Consortium (ESRDC) annual meeting and Industry Day, June 2, 3, & 4. The meeting brought together over 100 researchers from USC, Florida State University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mississippi State University, University of Texas, United States Naval Academy, Purdue University, University of Texas, and the Naval Post Graduate School to discuss research related to ship electric power generation, distribution, and propulsion systems.
Industry Day brought in representatives from companies actively working on design construction electric ships, and their electronic components to inform the researchers of challenges they are facing and what research they need to overcome those challenges.
This event also provided the researchers informal time to socialize, exchange ideas, and identify additional research topics on which to collaborate. One such event was a cruise on the Spirit of Lake Murray.
